These past few weeks have been absolutely wonderful but also absolutely hectic. To bring everyone up to speed, here are some photos of what I have been up to in Australia.
A sumatran tiger. It was super cute. We also discovered if you made growling noises at it, it could hear you and would proceed to try to attack you through the glass. Terrifying but awesome.
Koala bear at the zoo. It was so cute and very sleepy because it was so hot out that day. A few of us went to the zoo this past Friday with our Herpetology class. It was amazing and I need to go back. Our assignment was to go around and find all the reptiles and amphibians possible but we took a couple detours into the Australian section to see other animals.
It was also an excited feat to get there and back ourselves. Even though I have been here for a month (eek!), I still feel accomplished when I use the bus/train system without Australians guiding me.
A water monitor in the Reptile building. There were also tons of snakes in this building which was really awesome.
This is the Perth Skyline, with the Swan River and a couple swans in the foreground. This is also where I go to eat lunch about 3 times a week when I don't have time to get back to Tommy More. My life is so tough.

Me at the beach. A pretty good summary of what I do every time I have a chance. Last week was weird because I only made it to the beach 3 times.

On Friday night we had the first of our two formal dinners for the semester. It was a ton of fun to get dressed up and eat some delicious food with everyone.

Us girls at the Taylor Swift concert. It was absolutely amazing except for when the ushers kept telling us to sit down because "some people paid for seats." It didn't last long but it was annoying.

This photo is a little crappy but last Tuesday we all went out to see The Vow. It was a super cute movie and we ended up walking home afterwards because we missed the bus by 2 minutes and the next one wasn't going to come for another hour. I think we ended up getting back to Tommy about the same time we would have if we had waited and we got to go on a wonderful walk along the riverfront. Plus we got to dodge sprinklers which is always a fun time.
This was the sunset at Cottesloe Beach last Sunday. It was absolutely beautiful. I have discovered that laying on the beach and watching the sunset is one of my favorite things to do ever.
We also made it to the aquarium last weekend. This was one of the baby sea turtles that they were rehabilitating there. IT WAS SO CUTE!
I love taking photos of jellyfish so much even if they freak me out a ton when I see them in real life. They are all over the beaches and the in the river here. I don't think they usually sting but I just avoid them to be safe.
In the aquarium there was also a tunnel you could go through (not nearly as big as Mall of America's, but still really cool). Kat, Jamie, and I basically had a huge freakout because we were so excited about it. There were a ton of these guys who were just absolutely MASSIVE as well as sharks, sea turtles, and tons of fish. The freakiest thing is that the way the glass on the tunnel was curved it actually made everything seem smaller than it is.
Here is another photo from the Taylor Swift concert. This was seriously one of the greatest nights ever. We didn't think we were going to get any tickets but the night before I checked online and someone was selling 7 of them and we were able to buy them and get in! I was super excited that we didn't get completely scammed in the process either. haha.
Other than all of this I have been going to class (yeah, I should be doing reading right now but I am doing this instead) and just hanging out with people. All of the international kids that I have met have been amazing and I feel super close to them already. It is also obnoxiously warm out this week or really every week.
I will try to post again soon! I hope everyone is doing well and I do miss you all (even if I am having a great time here).
KLAR
